(I did have this whole other entry written, but it got lost somehow and so I’m just going to run this post.)

Post subject: June 22 Update

Greetings from Kenya!

…Each evening we held a revival meeting with the local believers. God blessed those times so much as we experienced Him wanting to strengthen the church. Kwale is a difficult region right now because they are experiencing a severe drought that has lasted several years and many people have died of starvation. During our last night of the evening revivals, we prayed together with the church members crying out in repentance and asking the Lord to send rain on this barren land. The moment that the meeting ended, a downpour of rain came and we all had to run for cover.

But as we ran, everyone was crying out in praise to God for sending rain that has not been seen in years and will save lives. Our tents were a little soggy that night but none of us really minded because the rain was a blessing from the Lord…

In Christ,
Kenya Team

Ok so here’s my one post on American Idol. I’m not an avid watcher and so I don’t really know how all the contestants have been throughout the entire season, but I gotta say that the guys KILLED it tonight. From tonight’s performances I’d hope the guys would be the Top 3 contestants on this years season. But this entry wasn’t really about me sharing my thoughts on the show. I just merely wanted to share with the world the guy’s performances from this night’s show if you missed it. Granted I don’t know how long youtube’ll keep these up, so hopefully you get to watch it. My favorite performance of the night has gotta be David Cook’s performance. That mug tore it up~ SICK! (And I think I heard somewhere that his brother who’s in the middle of battling worsening “brain cancer” was flown in by their hometown via private medical charter to watch the show this week, which would explain his crying at the end of the song?)

David Archuleta – When You Believe

David Cook – Always Be My Baby

Jason Castro – I Don’t Wanna Cry

And yes… this is what I do when I should be studying. Oh well, Jason Castro inspires people to live so it’s ok for me to be doing this. :P http://www.neighborsgo.com/index.php?page_id=1000&site_page_id=301&post_id=9691&sblog_id=333

Coming back up to Chicago 3 years ago, this was probably my biggest fear. I still probably drive about 95% of the time, but using the CTA could get a little confusing at times. Maybe not with the “L”, but definitely with the busing system. Well that fear is no longer necessary. Woo-hoo!

Now the only question I have is, I wonder when Google will start doing my taxes?

I’m not sure how long this is gonna stay up because I saw this earlier and it was taken down within a day. But here you go, Kaba Modern performed on LA’s KTLA and I believe this was supposed to be at least a portion of their encore dance if they had made it to the finals. So enjoy while it lasts!

[If you click the video and go to the youtube site, you can watch it in higher quality.]

I have a feeling this would’ve been sick to see on a bigger stage and it would’ve been nice to see the full routine. I still don’t understand why MTV couldn’t have at least shown it on the finale of America’s Best Dance Crew. They made them come up with it, practice it and they supposedly even performed it the day they got eliminated after the live part of the show was over… the least MTV could’ve done was show it sometime. Oh well… haha… in the end it doesn’t really matter. I just decided to post this b/c it looked like people were curious as to see what they were gonna dance.

I know I already did an info entry on the Chicago Cubs earlier in Spring Training, but it’s a few days before Opening Day and most of the lineup has been solidified and so I figured I would refresh your memory.

Starting with the starting line-up:
1. SS: Ryan Theriot (R)
2. LF: Alfonso Soriano (R)
3. 1B: Derrek Lee (R)
4. 3B: Aramis Ramirez (R)
5. RF: Kosuke Fukudome (L)
6. 2B: Mark DeRosa (R)
7. C: Geovany Soto (R)
8. CF: Felix Pie (L)

Bench:

D.Ward (L)|R.Johnson (R)|R.Cedeno (R)|M.Fontenot (L)|H.Blanco (R)

And your starting rotation:
1. Carlos Zambrano (R)
2. Ted Lilly (L)
3. Ryan Dempster (R)
4. Rich Hill (L)
5. Jason Marquis (R)

Closer:
Kerry Wood (R)

Bullpen:

J.Lieber (R)|K.Hart (R)|M.Wuertz (R)|C.Marmol (R)|S.Eyre* (L)|B.Howry (R)

*Currently on the DL, Cubs will start the season with either:
or
C.Pignatiello (L)|S.Marshall (L)

and on a side note…
I feel bad for M.Murton… hope we find a good place for him to be traded to…

And now you know… GO CUBS!!!

a little old school….
“Christ the Lord is Risen Today” by Charles Wesley

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids Him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened Paradise, Alleluia!

and a little new school….
“Arise My Love” by Newsong

Not a word was heard at the thomb that day
Just the shuffling of soldier feet as they guarded the grave
One day, two days, three days had past
Could it be that Jesus breathed his last?

Could it be that His Father had forsaken Him?
Turned His back on His Son dispising our sin
All hell seemed to whisper, “Just forget Him, He’s dead.”
Then the Father looked down to His Son and He said…

Arise, My Love! Arise, My Love!
The grave no longer has a hold on You
No more death’s sting, no more suffering
Arise… Arise… My Love

The earth trembled and the tomb began to shake,
And like lightening from Heaven the stone was rolled away
And as dead man the guards they all stood there in fright
As the power of love displayed its might

Then suddenly a melody filled the air
Riding wings of wind, it was everywhere
The words all creation had been longing to hear
The sweet sound of victory so loud and clear

Arise, My Love! Arise, My Love!
The grave no longer has a hold on You
No more death’s sting, no more suffering
Arise… Arise….

Sin, where are your shakles?
Death, where is your sting?
Hell… has been defeated
The grave could not hold the King

Arise, My Love! Arise, My Love!
The grave no longer has a hold on You
No more death’s sting, no more suffering
Arise… Arise… Arise!

[please don't mind the cheesy graphics... you can close your eyes and listen too...]

Thank You Jesus!

Just wondering if there could be anything going on in the background. The only reason I wonder this is because it was clear that the best dance crews on the show were Kaba Modern and JabbaWockeez. They both brought it each and every week with amazing choreography which featured crazy individual and group dancing (except Yuri’s one mess up). Status Quo is pretty good at what they do, but they’re pretty much good gymnists and some were good individual dancers. The only problem came when they would try and do choreography as a group, they have always always fallen short (MC Hammer, Michael Jackson and the History of Hip-Hop). They might be the best stunt artists, but they just aren’t the best dancers on the show and they certainly weren’t the best dancers. And so here’s why I ask if there’s a conspiracy theory. I’m pretty sure that MTV did not want a battle between two west-coast crews because that might have affected ratings on the east coast. In MTV’s voting rules it states (http://www.mtv.com/ontv/show/html/rules.jhtml?show=dance_crew):

If, for any reason, any aspect of this voting process is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical or system failures or disruption, ‘Acts of God’ or terrorist attacks, or any other causes beyond the control of MTVN which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the voting process or for any reason MTVN deems it necessary, MTVN reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend either or both the phoning in or text messaging voting process and reserves the right in its sole discretion to determine the winner(s).

If you read past all the nonsense before that last statement it reads: MTVN reserves the right in its sole discretion to determine the winner(s)!!!! What the freak is that all about??? Maybe I’m just being a conspiracy theorist gone nuts, but I was just seriously wondering this. If this was the case however, it’d be a sad day for a pretty great show. Just throwing it out there… think of it what you will. I’m pretty sure it didn’t, but maybe it did. Either way, GO JABBAWOCKEEZ!!!!

.

add-on: from another blog. Gotta say that was a pretty nice editing job by MTV if this was the really the case… And they taped this last tuesday?

I was at the taping of tonight’s episode — which actually took place Tuesday night in Culver City…. When Status Quo was announced as the No.1 vote-getter from viewers and were safe from elimination, my jaw hit the floor. Are you kidding me? That loud eruption of cheers that you heard on the show tonight? Didn’t happen. When the announcement was made, there was light applause. People around us were confused and shocked. There was booing. Of course, that was noticeably absent on the show.

And if the follow is the case… really? MTV wouldn’t show it? why?

…after Kaba was eliminated, the audience kept chanting “Let Kaba Dance!” so much that they were brought back to perform what would have been their dream routine if they had made it … alas, MTV didn’t air it at all Thursday night.

I’m done. I just thought I’d get my two cents out there. Theories are kinda fun. I’m hoping MTV didn’t rig it and status quo just happened to get the entire eastern seaboard to vote for them, but who knows right?

Update: What was probably gonna be Kaba’s encore dance can be seen (for now)  – http://agapetos.wordpress.com/2008/04/04/kaba-modern-encore-dance/

Wow. I never thought I’d ever witness something like this before in my life. I totally agree with the announcers, I always figured the girl would say yes and then afterwards break the news to him that she wasn’t ready. Props to him for having the balls to do this, but guys, this is probably why you want to do a little bit of research on whether or not she’ll say yes before you pop the question. I do feel pretty bad for both of them though. First, I feel awful for the guy because that’s probably the one of the biggest embarrassments that could happen and I’m sure he went through a ton of trouble to get this to happen. Secondly, it could be easy to view the girl as the bad character, but it must have been horrible for her to have to do this to someone I’m sure she cares about. And now the question is…. so what happened to them afterward? I haven’t heard of many rejected marriage proposals, but it always seems (esp on TV) like they break up after. The only thing I wonder is that things must have been going well for him to do this, do they let something like this break them up?

Let’s take a vote, do you think they broke up after this or they worked through it and are now currently back on the track to getting married?

(I also just want to apologize because even though I’m not the on who posted the clip, I’m sure I’m just making things worse by spreading it. Sorry man!)
